Mr. Beach entertained the students with facts about Kansas and Winfield with song and instruments. After lunch, in the afternoon, students rotated through activities about Kansas. K-State Extension presented an activity about Kansas natural products. Students made play dough from wheat flour and soy ink from soy beans. Farm Bureau representative, Denise N. presented on "Kansas Pollinators." Students learned about animals and insects that pollinate Kansas plants and crops. Students made stick puppets of Kansas Pollinators. Mr. Gene McCauley presented "Skins and Tails." Students got to see different types of animal and bird skins and feathers. The Derby Square Dance gave a demonstration on Square Dancing. Students and teachers got to participate in square dancing with the square dancers. Mrs. Keller, Lowell's Art Teacher had an activity for students where they drew and colored sunflowers on plastic circles to make sun catchers. Mrs. Fields, Mrs. Macias and Mrs. Thomas had students make a "healthy" snack from products found in Kansas. Mrs. Thomas then read a book about natural snacks. Students and staff agreed that everyone learned a great deal and had a lot of fun. The next rotation day will be Recycling in May. Testing Assembly 2012-2013
